I am so lucky to have an awesome and DIY expert as my mother-in-law. She helped with this project and all of the sewing projects (we have three more to share soon!) As I have said before, I am not so good with sewing; but, Mel, my mother-in-law is amazing.
So to start with, we laid out the fabric across the ottoman, deciding where we wanted the pattern to be. Don’t mind our great dane photobomber, Denali. He couldn’t be bothered to move. #attitude #toughlife
Then we got to measuring and cutting. Luckily, I had talked E into spray painting the legs the night before because spray paint + pregnant ladies do not mix well. We used Rustoleum Universal with built-in primer in satin black.
Here we are doing the cording. Look! A porch without snow!
Thank you as always for reading! Be sure to check back next week for a reveal on B’s room with some good DIY projects thrown in. But in the meantime, E and I are having a babymoon or as he insists on saying “a Chicago vacation without dependents.” We love our new town but you can’t compete with Chicago, so we are going to spend one night at a hotel by ourselves in our old ‘hood Lincoln Park. We plan on sleeping in and eating at all of our old favorite spots. And I cannot wait to spend aa day not thinking about nap times, diapers, or taking the dogs out. It is the second time I have ever left B for the night (the first one was unplanned: the night of our move to WI the movers didn’t get our furniture into the new house until 10 pm so B stayed with my in-laws.) Understandably, that night was not very relaxing. So follow along on Instagram for updates and some serious foodie photos!
