Nautical Bedroom: We recently moved Jack, our three-year-old son, out of the nursery and into our guest room; so, it’s only fitting that we spruced it up a bit for our newest “big boy” (and any guests who might stay with us! See how we transformed his room from a boring guest room to nautical big boy room. And make sure you see all the fabulous guest rooms on the blog hop!
NAUTICAL BEDROOM
We’ve always loved nautical themes, as it is how my husband and I met (we met teaching sailing.) So, making a nautical-themed bedroom for our son Jack, was always in the books! When Camila told me about this blog hop, and that we would be collaborating with Crane & Canopy, I knew immediately which duvet cover I would choose–The Larkin, a French blue striped duvet cover. It’s the perfect blend of coastal and polished, it’s sophisticated enough for a guest room and boyish enough for a young child’s room.
After putting it on Jack’s bed, I wanted to crawl in it myself! It’s made of 300-thread-count long staple cotton. The hidden zipper enclosure at the bottom of the duvet is easily changed, and the interior corner ties keep the comforter in place. It’s incredibly soft and has laundered really well!
While it isn’t always easy having company over during the holidays, having a few little things ready helps immensely. We recently redid our linen closet, so our sheets are finally organized. Also, having a sweet host basket ready for any out of town guests is always a nice touch. Panache Gift Shop sent the sweetest house guest basket, which I absolutely loved. It makes having guests a breeze, and would be a fantastic gift this holiday season!
It just shows you that little tweaks like changing out the duvet cover, shams, and adding a few little touches around the room, the whole guest room went from guest room to little boy’s room. But, it still is nice enough to have guests over when we have company. While the room isn’t finished by any means (we hope to one day build a bunk over the queen size bed, with a ladder, and build-in the lower bed; but, it’s a lovely room now, and that’s what matters!)
Thank you so much to Camila for organizing this, and to Crane & Canopy for supplying these amazing linens and Panache Gift Baskets for the beautiful guest basket–you can save 15% by using the code DIYDECORMOM15!
