HOME DECOR ACCESSORIES THAT ARE MUST HAVES
TRAYS
Adding a cute tray to a coffee table, an ottoman, or a bedside table instantly makes your mess of objects look deliberate! They are a serious game changer for any area that needs some zhushing up! Plus, I love having extra trays around so we can use our ottoman as a coffee table when we have company (or breakfast in bed–like that every happens ;). You can see here and here my two DIY trays that were super budget-friendly: DIY Gold and Lucite Tray in the picture above and my DIY Faux Inlay Tray that I use in my daughter’s bedroom. Layering a smaller tray on top of a stack of books is a great way to add a finishing touch to a stack of books as well!
If you are in the market for a tray, I have rounded up my favorites below. Personally, I have six trays that I use around the house: the DIY Gold and Lucite tray (it goes everywhere in our house, DIY Faux Inlay tray, a orange and glass tray that I picked up from Target, and a large black faux python tray, a round marble one, and a faux wood one. I also employ a smaller blue Greek Key tray and a pink and white striped one as a decorative accent on top of books as well.
marble tray--seriously such a classic staple!
MY FIVE FAVORITE TRAYS FOR YOUR HOME
BOWLS
Like trays, decorative bowls are one of those home decor accessories that are not only beautiful but insanely useful! Need to corral all the fruit on your counter–grab a fruit bowl? Need to add another level of height to a styled tabletop? Add a bowl! Need a centerpiece–grab some cheap citrus and stack em like I did below–at 10 cents a lime it’s the cheapest centerpiece you can make!
You can always turn a beautiful bowl on its end and display it as a piece of art like I did on our bookcase in our family room.

DECORATIVE BASKETS
We have a LOT of baskets in our house, all of them holding different items that we need to store. I use some for storing all of the kids toys, some for diapers, some for extra pillows and blankets, towels, and even dirty laundry!

DECORATIVE OBJECTS
On any bookcase in our house, you will not just find books; you will also find collections of beautiful decorative objects. Little decorative accents, if you will, add another level of interest on a coffee table, bookshelf, or side table vignette. They help tell a story of a room, in addition to adding another dimension to a one dimensional collection of items like books. And while sentimental home accents are great (and are truly the best kind) sometimes, having a few classic ones that are more versatile help elevate a space.

THROW BLANKETS
A house can never have too many throw blankets. Well according to my husband, it can; but I stand by my assertion 😉 A beautiful versatile throw blanket not only ensures that you are always warm; but, it also lends interest and a bright pop of color to more monochromatic furnishings. I like having one throw blanket on each bed in our house, as well as plenty in our family room and our living room. Draped over the back of a chair, a couch, or the foot of a bed, a throw blanket is a great way to add texture and pattern!
MY FIVE FAVORITE THROW BLANKETS
If you have several of these classic home decor accessories in your home, you will find your rooms look more collected, more layered, and finished! While magazines have stockpiles of home decor accessories, you will find that in your home, you only need a few key ones that you can use over and over again!

I do like your idea to use some color decorative baskets to use as accents for our home design as they can both be functional and aesthetic at the same time. That is something I will be sure to look for later as we are planning to improve our home’s looks. I’ll try to see what some online shops can offer to make things more convenient for us. Thanks!

The advice of baskets to hold things was really helpful to me. I didn’t think I could make diapers look cute in my home, but now I will find a cute basket to put them in. I just moved six months ago, so having cute decorations is important! I also want to find home decor that is on sale, finding things cheap is also important to me.
