Welcome to week four of the One Room Challenge! This past week, we tackled the DIY curtains and the DIY headboard, and hung my newest favorite purchase! We also updated the lamps which I head over heels about! (all sources are linked below!)
If you are a regular reader, then you know how much I love making DIY headboards. so it should come as no surprise that I decided to do another one–especially because a regular sized one wouldn’t fit! The space in between the two windows is too small to fit a normal king sized headboard. And the one we had before (a hand-me-down from my mom) covered both windows by 2-3″ making it difficult to open and shut the blinds. So, we knew we were going to have to DIY our own solution. And it is funny because we also DIYed our platform bed eight years ago because a normal platform bed was too big for our teeny apartment. Don’t worry, I have a full post coming up on the king headboard and the DIY platform bed!
I decided to go with a graphic print on the bed to bring some fun modern energy to the room. With the platform bed being so law and modern, I wanted something that would go. You can see here the different options I mocked up before buying the fabric.
Although I loved the second print, it was just too expensive. The fabric alone would have cost over $250. And the third option, I just wasn’t in love with. And since my husband E, was all about the first option (and it was the most budget-friendly) we went for it! It goes well with our more traditional DIY faux fireplace and our DIY Ikea Rast nightstands.
But, we still have a several tasks ahead of us before we call this room done:

I am IN LOVE with your bedding!!! I absolutely adore big white beds, but with two boys that like to play on mommy and daddy’s bed, it’s not in the cards right now. I love that Kelly green color with the bright blue of your headboard, too! It’s so preppy and chic. Come do my house, mmmmk?
This looks absolutely GORGEOUS! Love the artwork! x

Gorgeous Annie! I love the bedding you chose! There’s something about white bedding that makes a space look so clean and finished. You guys have done great so far!
Ah! The headboard looks so so great and the room is coming together beautifully. I cannot wait to see the finished product.
