BEST TOYS FOR 4 YEAR OLD GIRLS
The best toys for four year old girls allow for free play for hours, allow their imaginations to soar, and expand their skills. They are quality toys that can be handed down, played with siblings, and will enrich children’s lives. Furthermore, I steer clear from anything that is electronic or has limited imaginary potential. With these guidelines in mind, here are the best toys for four year old girls.
Dollhouse: A dollhouse (see my favorite dollhouses here see my favorite dollhouses here for each price range and style) is a classic gift that you will find on my gift guides for girls of other ages because it is a wonderful gift for girls that keeps on giving! Oh, and don’t think that boys can’t play with dollhouses either! My son plays with our gender-neutral dollhouse all the time because it’s a fantastic gift that works for both genders at a variety of ages.
Critter Treehouse: We don’t have this exact toy but three of our friends do and it’s their favorite toy. When my four year old girl goes over there, then it’s the only toy she plays with, so it might just be coming home with us as a gift sometime soon! We’ve also been gifted the darling trailer for the critters and my daughter loves it! Thank you Kerry!
Ukelele: My daughter LOVES putting on shows, and giving her an instrument that she felt she could play well was a huge thing for her. We opted to buy this ukelele because it was a real one and had better sound quality than the toy version. Four year old girls love playing music so why not get them an inexpensive instrument while learning the importance of keeping your instrument in good shape? https://amzn.to/2yGDOmA
Trampoline: This is a fantastic big gift for a four year old, or a great gift for multiple kids. Let’s be honest, we all love to jump on the trampoline and little girls are no different! This will allow you to play alongside your daughter and you’ll have just as much fun as her!

Board Games: Four year olds are at the perfect age for playing board games when they start to understand how to follow directions and take turns. This is one of my kids’ favorite games, it’s a classic and has been updated with new colors and graphics which makes it even more fun! We also love this classic from when I was little! American Girl Doll: At four years old, kids are at the younger age of being respectful of nice things while young enough to still enjoy playing with it. I gifted my daughter her first American Girl doll when she turned five years old but I think she would have been ready at four too. Often times, I will find my daughter playing with her American Girl dolls setting up tea parties or playing house with them. Having had American Girl Dolls when I was a little girl, it is a fun tradition to start with my daughter. If you aren’t sold on American Girl Dolls, consider these really nice dolls which are much more budget-friendly.
Dress up costumes: All girls love to get dressed up, and four year old girls have the imagination to make any outfit a dress up costume! To make sure it will fit your four year old girl, purchase an outfit like this that fits ages 4-6. A dress can always be grown into! And if you want some gender-neutral dress up costumes, consider buying a role playing costume instead.
Puppets & Puppet Theater: One of the best four year old girl toys has got to be a puppet theatre or market. Our’s functions as both which we (and the children) love because it saves space. Stock your puppet theater with lots of puppets for your kids to play with!
Magnetic Building Blocks: You may have seen these magnetic building blocks on some of my other gift guide posts for girls, so you won’t be surprised to find it here again. Why? Because I truly believe it is one of the best toys out there for both girls and boys. Heck, adults love playing with them! The difficulty level is able to scale with the child’s building abilities. We have a nice collection of these magnetic building blocks at our house and all three of our kids play with it.

Art Supplies: My four year old girl is obsessed with making art, so I rounded up my favorite art supplies for kids in this post. Fostering a love for art whether its for my son or my daughter is so important to us we even made an art cart so the kids can do their art any time they want. See all our favorite art gifts for preschoolers here!
Doll Figurines and House: Whether it’s Barbies or little play animals, every girl loves having a collection of make believe figures. I remember playing with my doll figures all the time when I was a child and I know my daughter will be the same. We’ve bought tthis budget-friendly collection when it’s on sale and I siphon out the dolls whenever we have an occasion.
Magic Sand: Kinetic or magic sand (this is our favorite–it cleans up the easiest!) is a great gift idea for four year old girls, and one of the best toys for four year old girls. It’s more fun to play with than play doh, and unlike regular sand it sticks together. We don’t have slime in our house (I’ve heard too many horror stories;) but, both my kids love playing with their magic sand. Tip for usage: either purchase one of the trays they sell with it or use a tin pie dish. If your child think that’s too small, get out a half sheet baking pan. It keeps the sand inside so it doesn’t get all over your house!
Playmobil play set: Did you have a Playmobil play set or dollhouse when you were a little girl? I remember I had this Playmobil dollhouse. These sets are a fantastic gift idea for four year old girls because you can add to them or they can be a stand alone set. Girls can practice their fine motor skills dressing the figurines up and making little houses for them along with storylines. royal playmobil dollhouse
Bicycle: When my daughter turned four, we gifted her a big girl bicycle for her four birthday and she was ON TOP OF THE MOON. While we had invested in a balance bike, she just never took to it. So we tried a traditional bike with training wheels and she loved it. Each kid takes to biking in their own way. We purchased our bicycle from here which was the steal of the century. https://amzn.to/2CHzUNq
