Blue and White Bathroom: When we redid our downstairs bathroom over for the One Room Challenge in fall of 2016, we were able to cram a lot of DIYing into six short weeks. Here are all the projects and posts we did to change this ugly duckling bathroom into a beautiful downstairs bathroom. It is the perfect blue and white bathroom with fun pops of pink! Plus, it was a very budget friendly renovation only costing $600. Scroll down to see how we did it!
BLUE AND WHITE BATHROOM
BLUE AND WHITE BATHROOM BEFORE & AFTER
You can see what we were working with…a lot of brown, wood trim, and an 1980s overall aesthetic!
And here’s the after! Lots of blue and white and an overall fresh feeling with pops of pink! We painted the walls blue and white beadboard. Then, I accessorized with pink accents.
We DIYed beadboard to upgrade the bathroom’s finish and add some visual interest.
I also made a DIY Roman Shade with my mother-in-law’s help. This is the perfect window treatment for a small bathroom!
To save money, we kept the same toilet, shower, and sink. Here’s a post on all of our budget-friendly bathroom decorating ideas!
By layering painting the walls blue, painting the wood trim white and adding curtains and art, we were able to completely transform the ugly brown bathroom. To store daily necessities, my husband built a DIY medicine cabinet which is recessed in the wall. We also replaced the lighting, which helped a lot with the light quality.
For towel storage in such a small bathroom, I spray painted a bamboo ladder (see my best picks below) and opted for lightweight Turkish towels. They dry quickly and are pretty!
