Front Hall:
When you enter our home, you are greeted immediately by fun light blue chinoiserie wallpaper. It’s a fun introduction to our house and sets the mood for what you can expect–a modern twist on traditional style with a love for color!
(see more of the front hall here and see how I saved over $800 making this DIY Console)
The front entry connects the dining room, the kitchen, and the living room which are all painted shades of light gray. Let’s go directly into the playroom next which is painted Benjamin Moore’s Balboa Mist. With the two adjoining rooms a light gray color, I had to make sure that the colors I used in the front hall went well. Keeping a consistent theme throughout the house (blue, white, with pops of pink) I ensured that all the colors go well with gray.

LIVING ROOM:
Our living room is a work in progress. It’s painted Benjamin Moore’s Classic Gray but has lots of pops of color with the throw pillows and accessories. I have some more plans to zhush it up a bit more bringing in more navy blue and white (obviously a theme).
FAMILY ROOM:
Our living room leads into our family room, and you can see how I continue the blue and white theme in there too. Of course, I love adding color, so I recently DIYed this Wall Art.
KITCHEN & BREAKFAST AREA:
Like many people, our kitchen is one room we would love to renovate but have to wait to save up money. In the meantime, we are planning some “Phase 1” improvements and making over the adjoining breakfast area which we use daily. Here is our design scheme to make it feel more like the rest of the home–add some color!
In the past several years, we’ve redone several of the other downstairs rooms including the laundry room (on a $500 budget) and the powder room (on a $600 budget!) We continue to work on those rooms bit by bit, and have recently also redone the back hall and are in the planning stages for an office makeover. With a neutral connecting hallway, I’ve sprinkled color throughout each of the rooms.
MUDROOM:

First Floor Bathroom:
Our bathroom is currently getting a makeover (I told you were will always working on the house!) But, I can share some pics of it before we replaced the sink, toilet, and mirror!

LAUNDRY ROOM:
Our laundry room was another budget-friendly makeover with a strict budget of $500. So we painted, painted, painted, and DIYed shelves and a waterfall edge laundry countertop.
Let’s go upstairs, because that’s where my color-loving heart gets to have fun with the kids’ rooms!
LITTLE GIRLS ROOM
If you are scared of pink, you probably won’t like my daughters’ shared bedroom but we LOVE IT! See here all the choices we made along the way: little girls room
BIG BOY ROOM:
Next up, is my son’s bedroom: It’s always been our nursery for babies so we like to keep the colors on the walls pretty gender neutral, and add color with bedding, accessories, furniture, and recently a wallpaper accent wall! See the entire room here: boy room decor
Guest Room:
Our guest room is Benjamin Moore’s Hale Navy and is a sophisticated room with lots of wood tones and wood. Eventually, we’ll turn this room into a bunk room, so right now we are just leaving it be!
Kids’ Bathroom:
A few years ago, we redid our kids’ bathroom on a tiny budget of $400–see how we did it here: Nautical Bathroom Makeover
Master Bedroom:
With neutral gray walls (Benjamin Moore’s Classic Gray) I wanted an airy feeling to the room; but, wanted it to reflect our personality so I infused lots of navy, kelly green, and pink! (See the entire makeover here: blue and white bedroom makeover)
