BENJAMIN MOORE REVERE PEWTER
Jump ahead to...
There are a few gray paint colors I come back to time and time again, and BM Revere Pewter is one of them. A warm light gray, it has the warmth of beige and the drama of a gray. It is a fantastic greige if you are looking for a gray that is warmer and has more saturation and is the most popular pewter color. It pairs nicely with Edgecomb Gray (see examples below) and Repose Gray and is a fantastic gray with nice undertones, and Sherwin-Williams Sea Salt.
See how it compares to similar gray paint colors from Benjamin Moore and Sherwin-Williams below with the side-by-side paint chips. And don’t forget to print out the best gray paint colors and my cheat sheet to picking the perfect paint color every time!
REVERE PEWTER LRV: 55.51
First, what is LRV? LRV is light reflectance value (or how much light a certain color reflects.) The higher the number, the more light it reflects. Revere Pewter is pretty much in the middle at 55.51.
It is darker than most of the colors I use in my house; but, that doesn’t mean it isn’t a fantastic color to use! It is terrific for open floor plans and is one of the most versatile colors you can choose. It is still considered a light gray paint color (or greige) and will add sophistication to your house!
BENJAMIN MOORE COLOR SCHEME AND PAINT CHIP COMPARISONS
See how Benjamin Moore’s Revere Gray compares with some of the most popular light gray colors by BM. These are gray paint colors that come up again and again in designer favorites for good reasons. But you have to know how they differ. See the paint chip comparisons below to decide!
Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter vs. Balboa Mist
First, let’s compare how BM’s Revere Pewter compares to one of my favorite gray paint colors–Balboa Mist.
BM Balboa Mist
BM Revere Pewter
You can see how it is more saturated and has more taupe and beige in it than Balboa Mist does. See how Balboa Mist looks in a real home here: Balboa Mist
Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter vs. BM Classic Gray
Benjamin Moore Classic Gray is another one of my Best Gray Paint Colors. You can see again, similar to Balboa Mist above, Classic Gray pales in comparison to Revere Pewter. BM Revere Pewter is a much more saturated color and provides much more drama. I would recommend Revere Pewter in a room that either gets a lot of light, or one that you want to feel cozy and intimate. See how Benjamin Moore Classic Gray looks in real homes here.

Revere Pewter vs. Edgecomb Gray
If there’s a more complementary duo, I can’t think of one! BM Revere Pewter and BM Edgecomb Gray come from the same color family and both have warmth that many of the other gray’s lack. See below how Young House Love used BM’s Revere Pewter on their foyer ceiling and showed how good Revere Pewter can look when paired with Edgecomb Gray on the walls.

Revere Pewter vs. Chelsea Gray
Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter also pairs very nicely with the deep and dramatic Benjamin Moore Chelsea Gray.
They both have the same warmth and beige undertones; but, Chelsea Gray has a larger saturation. We used Chelsea Gray on our kitchen island and in our old apartment’s kitchen walls. See it here, and my favorite Gray Paint Colors.

Revere Gray vs. Owl Gray

Benjamin Moore’s Owl Gray is another designer favorite. It has much more blue and green than Revere Pewter which is more of a putty.
If you want to go lighter with a bluish-gray paint color, then consider BM Owl Gray!

Revere Pewter vs. Pale Oak
Here’s another fantastic pairing if you want a whole house paint scheme for your own home.
Revere Pewter and Pale Oak both are warm grays but differ in saturation. While BM’s Pale Oak is airier, BM’s Revere Pewter is more dramatic and would provide a nice contrast to some nice white trim or wainscoting!

- Paint Trim Guard
- You are going to want this if you have wall-to-wall carpeting or hardwood floors that you want to protect. I use it along with Painter’s Tape to ensure that I don’t have drips on my floor.

After painting almost every single room in our house, I’ve found a few tools that make the job so much easier! These painting tools seriously cut my time by 66%.
- You also don’t want to attempt to paint without this handy tool. It is an absolute lifesaver if you are painting baseboards over carpet. We have wall-to-wall carpet in over 50% of our house so this thing has logged some miles! It is also handy even if you have hardwood floors though to protect your beautiful wood floors!
- Well, this painting tool makes painting walls go 10x faster and helps me great perfect lines every time. I totally thought it was a scam until we started using it. GAMECHANGER! It is worth its weight in gold and is seriously the only reason my husband will help me tie-in or edge a room!
This is very helpful. We are painting our new home and looking for a subtle gray/beige. We will have a lot of millwork in Swiss coffee and I dont want too bold of a contrast. I like Revere Pewter but I think it will be too dark in some of our rooms. I like how like pale oak is but is there a beige undertone in your opinion or is it really just gray?
Hi Lesley! So sorry I am just getting back to you. Pale Oak is in my opinion a warm gray. To be sure, I would paint a couple dollar store poster boards and bring them next to the millwork in a variety of rooms. Revere Pewter can be quite dark, I just opted to use a lighter color, a white in our living room for that reason. (I used White Dove).
Good luck! Can’t wait to see it!
Annie
Revere Pewter can be lightened. You can lighten it by 25 percent or 40 percent. I lightened it by 25 percent and used it as the main color of my home with Dover White trim. It’s beautiful.
That is great to hear! Thanks Trish!
Hi Annie …. I would like to paint my whole house Revere Pewter excluding the foyer. Presently I have Mouse’s Back in my foyer which is large and open to my livingroom. I like the drama but I have terricota tiles in my foyer leading into a north facing ‘bird room’ . My living room is large and south facing. Would you suggest another dark grey for the foyer that would blend with the tiles (making them a neutral)and also add the drama that mouse’s back (Farrow & Ball) gave me. Also are you familiar with drop cloth (F & B). Does Revere Pewter have undertones of green? The Mouse’s Back was beautiful at night but greenish during the day. Barnboard (BM) looks great with the tile floors but doesn’t look so great with Revere Pewter. My acessories are purple, and acqua. I also love mixing metals. My furniture is cream, off white and grey.
My livingroom is large with a 10ft. bay window so lots of light.
Thank you so much.
I have revere pewter in my home on most of the walls. I am looking to find a good hardwood flooring color that compliments the wall color and can’t decide on what works the best. I was wondering if someone had any ideas.
I have a question. We are wanting to paint our Brick house. I love the Revere Gray. However, I want Natural Wood look (stained lightly) Columns. How would that look???
I am in the process of building a new home and I’m leaning towards painting the outside of my brick home in the Revere Pewter. Just wondering if anyone has painted the outside of their home in this color?
My home is edgecomb gray but I need a coordinating color lighter that will go in bathrooms and sunroom and laundry room. All with white trim. I thought pale oak but wasn’t sure if it was too light. What’s your thoughts on a color family for edgecomb?
This article was so valuable to me when I changed paint colors. Love these grey/beiges.
But the most important thing I am not giving up and holding it until I find success. I am really positive using your thoughts and knowledge will help me to improve myself. siberian husky puppies for rehoming Great work. Keep doing this great work for us. Loved it.
